List of Shows Coming in 2022 on Disney+ Hotstar

Obi-Wan Kenobi is American limited series Coming in 2022 on Disney+ Hotstar, featuring the Star Wars character of the same name. Set ten years after the events of Revenge of the Sith (2005), the series is written by Joby Harold and directed by Deborah Chow. The story after Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith in which Kenobi faced the downfall of Darth Vader.

One of Disney’s big announcements today during its Disney+ event included the reveal of Zootopia+, a short-form series expected to be released on Disney+ in 2022. The series is expected to return to the “fast-paced mammal metropolis” featured in the popular original Zootopia film released in 2016.

The Willow Disney Plus series is planned to release in 2022, and the series will feature Warwick Davis in reprising his role as Willow. Ron Howard is set to return and become the series Executive Producer. Jon M. Chu will serve as director of the upcoming series.

According to Howard, the series will be a “creative lean forward, rather than a nostalgic throw-away”. This is great to hear, and Howard assured fans and new audiences that this will be a series that will be made with heart and great writing. Hopefully, Willow will be able to bring back his magical charm in 2022.

Moon Knight is an American television miniseries created by Jeremy Slater Coming in 2022 on Disney+ Hotstar, based on the Marvel Comics character of the same name. It is intended to be part of the television series in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) produced by Marvel Studios, sharing continuity with the films of the franchise. Slater serves as a head writer with Mohamed Diab leading the directing team.

Hocus Pocus 2 is an upcoming American fantasy comedy film directed by Anne Fletcher, written by Jen D’Angelo, and produced by Walt Disney Pictures. A sequel to the 1993 film Hocus Pocus, the film will star Bette Midler, Sarah Jessica Parker, Kathy Najimy, and Doug Jones reprising their roles from the first film.

The Book of Boba Fett is an upcoming American television series created for the streaming service Disney+. It is part of the Star Wars franchise, a spin-off from the series The Mandalorian featuring the bounty hunter Boba Fett from that series and other Star Wars media. The series takes place alongside the other The Mandalorian spin-off Ahsoka.

Ms. Marvel is an American television miniseries created by Bisha K. Ali  Coming in 2022 on Disney+ Hotstar, based on the Marvel Comics character Kamala Khan / Ms. Marvel. It is intended to be the sixth television series in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) produced by Marvel Studios, sharing continuity with the films of the franchise. Ali serves as a head writer with Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah leading the directing team.

Disney has released a new trailer for the National Geographic documentary series, “Limitless With Chris Hemsworth”, which is coming to Disney+ in 2022.

Disenchanted is an upcoming American live-action/animated musical fantasy romantic comedy directed and co-written by Adam Shankman as a sequel to the 2007 film Enchanted. Amy Adams, Patrick Dempsey, James Marsden, and Idina Menzel reprise their roles from the first film, with Gabriella Baldacchino replacing Rachel Covey. They are joined by Maya Rudolph, Yvette Nicole Brown, Jayma Mays, and Oscar Nunez.

The Proud Family is an American animated television series created by Bruce W. Smith that originally ran on Disney Channel from September 15, 2001, to August 19, 2005. A revival, known as The Proud Family: Louder and Prouder, was announced in 2020 and is set to premiere on Disney+ on February 22, 2022.

I Am Groot is an upcoming American animated television series created for the streaming service Disney+, based on the Marvel Comics character Groot. It features characters from the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). The series consists of shorts produced by Marvel Studios, with Kirsten Lepore serving as director.

I Am Groot was announced in December 2020. Production of the series’ photorealistic animation had begun by August 2021, with Lepore joining as director by November 2021.

I Am Groot is scheduled to debut on Disney+ in 2022, as a part of Phase Four of the MCU.

The Ice Age Adventures of Buck Wild is an upcoming American 3D computer-animated adventure comedy film produced by 20th Century Animation, set to be released on January 28, 2022, on Disney+.

It is the sixth installment of the Ice Age series and a spin-off of the franchise.

Pinocchio is an upcoming American live-action computer-animated musical fantasy drama film directed by Robert Zemeckis from a screenplay by Zemeckis and Chris Weitz and produced by Walt Disney Pictures. It is a remake of the 1940 film of the same name, which is itself based on the 1883 Italian book The Adventures of Pinocchio, by Carlo Collodi. The film will star Tom Hanks, Cynthia Erivo, and Luke Evans with Benjamin Evan Ainsworth, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Keegan-Michael Key, and Lorraine Bracco in voice roles.

The film is planned to be released on Disney+ in late 2022.

She-Hulk (stylized as She/Hulk) is an upcoming American television series created by Jessica Gao for the streaming service Disney+, based on the Marvel Comics character of the same name. It is intended to be part of the television series in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) produced by Marvel Studios, sharing continuity with the films of the franchise. Gao serves as a head writer with Kat Coiro leading the directing team.

The Cheaper by the Dozen franchise consists of a series of films and stage adaptations, based on the real-life events of the Gilbreth family. Based on novels co-written by Frank B. Gilbreth, Jr. and Ernestine Gilbreth Carey, the series of movies include two biographical films and two remake family comedy films inspired by their story. The general plot centers around the lives of parents with a large number of children. Each depicts familial relationships and working through the challenges that arise with an oversized household.

A reboot of the franchise is in development for an exclusive release on Disney+ in March 2022.

Disney+ is in full swing already, with plenty of announcements. Among those is the estimated premiere date for season 3 of High School Musical: The Musical: The Series, which is slated to come out sometime in 2022.

Andor is an upcoming American television series created by Tony Gilroy for the streaming service Disney+. It is a prequel to the Star Wars film Rogue One, following the character Cassian Andor five years before the events of the film. Diego Luna executive produces and reprises his Rogue One role as Cassian Andor.

Rise is an American biographical sports-drama film directed by Akin Omotoso, from a script written by Arash Amel Coming in 2022 on Disney+ Hotstar. Based on the true story of three young Nigerian-Greek brothers, who emigrate to the United States and rise to fame and success within the National Basketball Association. The film stars newcomers Uche Agada, Ral Agada, and Jaden Osimuwa in the three primary roles; with Elijah Shomanke, Yetide Badaki, and Dayo Okeniyi supporting family roles.

The World According to Jeff Goldblum is a 2019 American documentary streaming television series presented by Jeff Goldblum streaming on Disney+ from November 12, 2019.

The first five episodes of season 2 launched on November 12, 2021, which Disney called Disney+ Day, with the rest of season 2 to follow at a later date.

Sneakerella is an upcoming American musical comedy film directed by Elizabeth Allen Rosenbaum and written by David Light & Joseph Raso, Tamara Chestna, Mindy Stern, and George Gore II. A re-imagining of the fairy tale “Cinderella”, the film will star Chosen Jacobs and Lexi Underwood

Chip ‘n Dale: Rescue Rangers is an upcoming American live-action/CGI-animated adventure comedy film based on, and a continuation of, the animated TV series of the same name. The film was directed by Akiva Schaffer from a screenplay by Dan Gregor and Doug Mand, from an original story by Barry Schwartz.

Big Hero 6: The Series is an American superhero comedy drama animated television series that aired between November 20, 2017, and February 15, 2021.

In December 2020, it was announced that a spinoff series titled Baymax! – which will be produced by Walt Disney Animation Studios – will be released on Disney+ in 2022.

Eternals will release Wednesday, January 12, 2022, on Disney+ and Disney+ Hotstar, Marvel Studios announced late on Friday. The newest Marvel movie — soon to be superseded by Spider-Man: No Way Home, releasing December 16 in India — will arrive 69 days after its global theatrical premiere on November 5 in India, the US, and elsewhere. That’s two less than the 71-day window Disney determined for the previous Marvel movie, Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings. And just as it was released in cinemas, Eternals will be available in English, Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, and Malayalam on Disney+ Hotstar in India.
