WHO Updates-7 Countries Reported Zero COVID-19 Cases

As COVID cases increases across the globe, it’s surprising good that some countries have managed to keep the virus at bay ever since it began in early 2020. Well, as per the reports of World Health Organisation (WHO), a handful of countries actually reported zero cases of COVID.

Tuvalu and Turkmenistan to Democratic People’s Republic of Korea,these countries have managed to stay Covid-free.

Turkmenistan

Turkmenistan is located in Central Asia, it’s surprising how it managed to ward off the COVID-19 pandemic, while it spread across the continent. However, if reports are to go by, the country has not yet officially reported any COVID-19 cases, whereas its officials strictly restricted mass religious events, all commercial travel, and encouraged wearing face masks and maintaining social distance.


Pitcairn Islands

As per the records, it has a population of just 50 people, and they managed to remain away from the virus. These islands are located in the Pacific Ocean. Comprising four islands, i.e., Henderson, Oeno, Pitcairn, Ducie, this British Overseas Territory is known to be the least populated territory in the world. As per the records, Polynesians were the first inhabitants of the Pitcairn Islands, and it’s the only inhabited island.

Kiribati

Kiribati is an island republic in the central Pacific Ocean that is formerly known as the Republic of Kiribati. The state is made up of 32 atolls and Banaba, an elevated coral island.

Since the start of COVID-19, this island nation in the middle Pacific has kept its borders closed to visitors. Only 11,686 citizens out of nearly 1.2 lakh have been properly vaccinated.

Micronesia is spread across the Western Pacific, and is made up of four island states. With more than 600 islands, its four island states are Korsae, Chuuk, Yap, and Pohnpei. This destination is famed for its wreck-filled dives, palm-shaded beaches, and ancient ruins. As per the reports of WHO, more than 38 people per 100 population are fully vaccinated in Micronesia, and managed to stay away from COVID-19.

Saint Helena

As per the reports of WHO list, 58 people per hundred population are fully vaccinated here. Located in the South Atlantic Ocean, Saint Helena is considered one of the world’s most remote locations. Sitting more than 1200 miles west of Africa’s southwestern coast, and 2500 miles from Rio de Janeiro, it has a population of roughly 4500, and kept the virus at bay.

Tokelau

With three tropical coral atolls in the South Pacific Ocean, Tokelau has been listed as COVID-19 free by the WHO. Since there are no airports, Tokelau is accessible primarily by ship. With a population of just 1500 residents, this destination also calls itself the first nation that is completely powered by renewable energy.

Tuvalu

As per the reports of WHO, nearly 50 out of 100 people are fully vaccinated against COVID-19 in this destination. This island nation in the South Pacific comprises a group of six atolls and three reef islands. Although it’s a member of the Commonwealth, this island nation managed to keep COVID-19 at bay by resorting to mandatory quarantine and closing its borders.
